Art Happening at the Square Shopping Center

BBF@KB (The Square Shopping Center at 260 Crandon Blvd., #29 & #30, Key Biscayne, FL 33149) will be celebrating its opening on January 16, 2009 at 7pm with a cocktail reception and unique art event. Owner and artist, Bénédicte Blanc-Fontenille will present a new installation piece: hopping on one foot on the rope. Part of the installation is a large painted canvas that will be cut up into 40 individual canvases and raffled off to benefit the Key Biscayne Community Foundation.

The artist will be cutting the painting live on the evening of January 16, 2009. Each winner will receive a 12"x12" piece and a certificate of authenticity.The cost of each raffle ticket is $5, click on the Buy Now button to purchase tickets. Bénédicte Blanc-Fontenille
Born 1961, France.
Graduate of Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Rennes- France- 1985.

Ms. Blanc-Fontenille has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions. Including the recent Key Biscayne Community Foundation sponsored Pieces from Paradise. Her work is part of private and corporate collections including Cartier, Piaget, Rhone Poulenc, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Art Center Fundation Ortiz Gurdian Museum in Nicaragua.
Ms. Blanc-Fontenille uses mixed media to express the fragility of humans and their inventions, research, creativity and knowledge.
" I think that fragility is the engine of creativity".

She works in layers, with pigment, paper, ash, rust, acrylic, wax, coffee.....
Her sculptures are in plaster. Like the silhouetted figures in her paintings they are suggesting the fragility of the movement.
"Life is nothing but movement".
