Spring break theatre camp at the Key Biscayne Rec Center

The PlayGround Theatre for Young Audiences will conduct a Spring Break Theatre Camp at the Key Biscayne Community Center. Classes will be held from April 10 -14 for children 7 to 12 years of age.

Acting, singing, dancing and improvisation will be lead by The PlayGround’s Producing Artistic Directors Stephanie Ansin and Oleg Kheyfets , along with talented company members.

Additionally, a Summer Camp will be held at Barry University June 5-30 and July 5-28. “Both [Spring and Summer] camps will be a lot of fun,” said Stephanie Ansin. “Our company members will teach the classes. The kids will sing, create improvisations, play theatre games, dance and perform material that they create themselves!”

Aiming to benefit young Key Biscayners, a grant from the Key Biscayne Community Foundation has provided a limited number of scholarships for this fun-fi lled, challenging artistic adventure. Scholarships are already available and enrollment is limited.

Although The PlayGround Theatre for Young Audiences doesn’t offer regular classes besides the summer and spring camps, Stephanie commented that she hopes to add them soon. “We have a lot of requests for after-school and weekend classes.”

She also said that they start performing at their own home venue, The Shores Performing Arts Theatre, this month, performing Pluft for ages 6-10 on April 29 at and The Beast for ages 16 and up on April 22.

The PlayGround Theatre for Young Audiences (theplaygroundtheatre.com) has other plays in repertory, including Brooklyn Bridge, The Love of Three Oranges, and The Little Ghost.
