Key Biscayne Community Foundation Presents The Bathtub John and Selene Devaney have a challenge for Key Biscayne -- one that could bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars for the island village.
Written by Amy Dominy and directed by Gail Garrisan, The Bathtub highlights the emotions of Rosie, a 12-year-old Jewish girl who is forced to clean the bathtub of a house when in fact she had been hired to baby-sit a seven-year-old boy. The kid tells her all Jews are evil and thieves, and the painful episode also leads to the loss of her job. We see Rose as a 45-year-old woman who remembers the incident, while at the same time little Rosie recreates the childhood scenes. Rose and Rosie come face to face in their thoughts, and arrive at the conclusion that it is good to "make waves", but that it is even better to “become the wave”: to dare to be different, unique. |
