Pieces from Paradise Exhibit Details and Submission Guidelines

Pieces from Paradise: Celebrating Our Island Artists is a curated exhibition, sale and fundraiser for the Key Biscayne Community Foundation. Proceeds received by the Key Biscayne Community Foundation will go towards furthering the organization’s work with Key Biscayne nonprofits and establishing future community-wide arts events. Artists featured in the exhibition will also receive coverage for themselves and their work through the Key Biscayne Magazine.

The exhibition and events will take place during the weekend of April 4-6, 2008 at a recently constructed empty home on Key Biscayne (501 Harbor Drive, space donated by eRealty and Zubillaga Design). The events will consist of:

Saturday, April 5: Cocktails and Dancing with the Artists (evening event). Open to the public with admission fee of $75

Attendees:

  • Key Biscayne Community Foundation board members and friends
  • Local Key Biscayne Residents
  • Artist guests from Key Biscayne and Miami-Area

Sunday, April 6: Friends and Family Day (daytime event). Open to public with admission fee of $25 for adults and free for children

Attendees:

  • Key Biscayne families and children
Guidelines for Submission:

This call to artists is open to Key Biscayne-based visual artists above the age of 18 who wish to participate in an art show, sale and fundraiser to promote awareness of the arts on Key Biscayne and benefit the Key Biscayne Community Foundation. Works chosen will be sold at the show with 30% of the proceeds benefiting the Key Biscayne Community Foundation.

The Pieces from Paradise Curatorial Committee will review the works submitted and determine what pieces they would like to include in the exhibition. The Curatorial Committee will consist of arts professionals with gallery and museum experience and a representative from the Key Biscayne Magazine. Given space constraints of the home no more than 20 artists will be chosen. One to three of the artist’s pieces will be chosen for the exhibition at the discretion of the Curatorial Committee.

Given the volume of submissions Key Biscayne Community Foundation may not be able to return any image CDs or portfolios received.

Interested artists shall submit no later than February 8, 5PM:

• 3 or fewer images of their work that they would like considered for the show. Images should be submitted in electronic format, jpg, eps, pdf, psd, or gif. If submitted via email each image should not greater than 5 MB and submitted as attachments.  Each image should include:

  • Name of Work
  • Dimensions of piece
  • Medium
  • Year

• Artist Statement/Biography (no longer than 500 words in length)

• $25 registration fee made out to Key Biscayne Community Foundation. (Registration fee may be dropped off separate from an electronic submission but must be received by submission deadline to have work considered.)
